so apparently im not as great at this blogging thing as i thought i would be. or it could be that i just dont have time. with the holidays quickly approaching ive kinda been feeling like i can barely breathe at times! crazy how fast the time is flying. anyways, heres an update on whats been going on lately :)
thanksgiving came and went way too quickly. besides christmas, thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday. for as long as i can remember my parents have always cooked a huge and oh so delicious meal and the day is spent with family reminiscing about the past year and remembering all of the amazing ways God has been faithful. this year was no different :) thanksgiving day was spent at my parents' house like usual, with my grandparents from wisconsin. this time is so precious for them because they dont get to see my babies (their only great-grandchildren!) too often so we all look forward to when we get to see each other! the food was so yummy and we had a great time just being together. the saturday after thanksgiving, jerrys parents came to our house and i made 2 roasted chickens and we did a 'mini' thanksgiving day :) it was a very fun weekend! oh how could i forget to mention the shopping...oh the shopping. so thanksgiving night, both of my sisters and i and my youngest sister's boyfriend decided that we would go to toys'r'us at 10pm when they opened for their 'pre-black friday' deals. thinking nothing of it, we casually arrived at 9:50pm to a line that was about a city block long! i should also mention that the temp that night was like negative a lot of degrees. so we decided to just park the car and get in line...it wasnt going to be that bad. ha. we waited outside for about 45 minutes only to get inside and wait almost another 2 hours to pay! was it worth it? maybe. was it fun? of course :) we got some good deals...all of which im sure we couldve gotten if we just went the next day at a more decent time, but like i said, it was fun :) last year i got up super early on black friday to be at menards when they opened at 5am. i got almost ALL of my shopping done last year at menards. yes menards. on black friday they have a pretty decent toy section and have some tools and other items priced really low. but since i was out late thanksgiving night, i decided that i wasnt going to get up super early again. i did go around 8am to menards that morning and got a few good deals too! so now i just have a few more things to purchase before christmas :) i love giving gifts!
sophia is getting excited for christmas...although she is scared to death of santa! if you ask her if hes coming to her house to bring her toys, she very sternly replies 'NO!'.
so not much else to report...tonight is girls' night with the women from our small group so im very excited about that...i hear theres going to be chocolate :) more to come...
